Pets are family for many of us and during the pandemic, even more of us managed to add furry friends to our family.
Naturally, as members of our family, we want to be able to take our four-legged pals on dog friendly walks and live in a city that’s friendly to our pooch.
With pet parents in mind, WalletHub compared the pet-friendliness of the 100 largest US cities across 23 key metrics. The data set ranges from minimum pet-care provider rate per visit to pet businesses per capita to walkability.
WalletHub compared the 100 most populated cities across three key dimensions: 1) Pet Budget, 2) Pet Health & Wellness and 3) Outdoor Pet-Friendliness.
Among the key metrics include average veterinary care costs for a city, dog insurance premiums, most veterinarians per capita, pet businesses, most dog parks, and animal shelters.

Ranking at the very top for pet friendly cities in the US for 2021 is Scottsdale, Arizona. Scottsdale ranked at the top for pet health and wellness and third for outdoor pet-friendliness
Rounding out the top 3 cities are Tampa (2) and Orlando (3) in Florida. Both of these cities ranked high for pet health and wellness.
The rest of the top ten cities include: 4. Las Vegas, NV; 5. Birmingham, AL ; 6. St. Louis, MO; 7. St. Petersburg, FLÂ 8. Cincinnati, OH, 9. San Diego, CA, 10. New Orleans, LA.
