With lockdown gradually easing across the UK people are starting to think about planning a getaway within the UK, in other words, a staycation.
With miles of long golden beaches, acres of rich woodland and cities bursting with culture and heritage, there really is something in the UK for everyone, for two legs and four legs.
‘The Guide to a Very British Staycation’ published by Ageas, listed ten of the most pet friendly staycation destinations in the UK .
“While nothing beats a trip away with our four-legged friends, it can often be tricky to find a place to stay that accommodates all,” Ageas stated. “Equally, you will need to be able to do things with your pets. After all, you aren’t going to be taking your pooch to see a West End show or out partying until 4 am.”
Looking at the destinations with the most pet-friendly places to stay, alongside places for them to stretch their legs, the seaside town of Hastings comes out as leader of the pack with a wealth of suitable accommodation and a number of great National Trust sites to explore within driving distance.
Hastings had a total 11.1 pet friendly accommodations per 1,000 visitors and an overall score of 63.
Cheltenham, located in the Cotswolds, ranked as the second-most pet friendly place for a staycation with 11.5 pet friendly accommodations per 1,000 visitors for an overall score of 56.9.
The Cornish seaside towns of Newquay and Penzance ranked third and fourth, respectively, while the coastal town of Torquay rounded out the top five.
