One of the biggest names in the hotel industry is going pet friendly.
Pet travelers will now have more options when they hit the road with their furry friends as global hotel giant Hilton announced that several of its brands are becoming pet friendly across the US and Canada.
Homewood Suites by Hilton is the latest Hilton brand to become 100% pet-friendly. Homewood Suites officially began welcoming pets to all of its properties as of 1 January 2022, joining Home2 Suites and Canopy by Hilton as 100% pet-friendly brands in the US and Canada.
The company added that by April 2022 all Embassy Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton by Hilton and Tru by Hilton properties in the US and Canada will also become completely pet-friendly.
Fees for bringing your four-legged friend vary by hotel chain.
The price for pet stays have been criticised with one traveler pointing out that he was charged a nightly pet fee of £36.81 (approximately USD 50.00). The traveler, also pointed out that some properties charged up to £129 (approximately USD 175.44) per stay for up to six nights and charge a deep cleaning fee (in this case it was an additional £129 (USD 175.44) for stays lasting a week or longer.

In a statement, the company said, “Traveling with a pet doesn’t come without limitations: Travelers need parks, space and quiet rooms so pets can feel comfortable. This is why Hilton’s all-suite properties are purr-fect for pets. Not only do many offer plenty of green spaces for pets to walk and play, such as Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown South Loop, one block from iconic Grant Park, but the roomy suites help every traveler, regardless of number of legs, to feel comfortable and right at home.”
In addition to pet-friendly accommodations, Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton team members will provide guests information on local pet-friendly resources, including local dog parks, any nearby 24-hour vets, pet stores and any pet-friendly restaurants in the area. Many hotels will offer pet treats at the front desk, pet bowls for guest use and pet waste bags.
The hotel giant also announced that it has has partnered with Mars Petcare to feature pet health, wellness and behavioral support through a new online service. Access will soon be expanded to 100% of Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites by Hilton properties throughout the US and Canada, with Mars Petcare experts available to answer questions related to traveling with four-legged friends.
The service includes on-demand articles with tips including what to pack and how to settle in as well as chat features, both online and via phone, where Mars Petcare experts can answer any pet-related concerns throughout the trip. The online support is specifically tailored for on-the-go pets with the aim of creating a more inclusive and seamless travel experience for Hilton guests and their furry friends.
